The general operation process for milling straight cylindrical gears is as follows:
(1) According to the requirements of the drawing, check the size of the tooth tip circle of the gear blank.
(2) Install the indexing head, clamp and calibrate the workpiece. After index calculation, adjust the index handle and index fork.
(3) Select and install milling cutters.
(4) Use the cutting or scoring method to align the knife.
(5) Adjust the cutting parameters of the machine tool and check the operation of the cutting fluid and cooling system.
(6) Mill very shallow tool marks every 3-5 teeth on the gear blank, and check if the indexing calculation and adjustment are correct.
(7) Adjust the milling depth. Generally, it should be divided into two steps: rough milling and fine milling to cut out all tooth depths. Measure the tooth thickness after milling two grooves.
(8) After milling all the grooves, the tooth thickness should be measured again, and then the workpiece should be removed for inspection.
